Correction Policy

At Newshours18, we are committed to accuracy and transparency. This Corrections Policy outlines the measures we adopt if we discover that incorrect or misleading information has been published on our website.

We are conscious of our accountability to our readers. When an error is identified, it is our responsibility to issue a correction promptly and clearly inform our audience of the change at the earliest possible opportunity.

Premise

Newshours18 is committed to providing its audience with accurate, unbiased and timely news to our global audience. Every story published on our website is based on the best available information at the time we are reporting the news.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We are committed to being promptly responsive in correcting any errors found in the content published on our website as soon as they are brought to our notice. We believe that an informed public is the foundation of a healthy society, and we are dedicated to providing news that is free from outside influence or editorial bias.

Transparency and Updates

We are committed to make it’s a practice of adding clear notes to stories that have been updated for correction or clarity. It is essential for us to make correction, clarifications or editorial notes to our readers whenever we correct a significant mistake or update a story to include authentic information or stakeholder updates.

If any error occurs in our fast-checking process (conducted in accordance with our Fast Check Policy), we update the post immediately and mention in bold at the top of the post “Correction/Update” info and explain what the correction made.

We value the input of our community and encourage readers to send corrections to editor@newshours18.com. Additionally, we provide an option at the bottom of every post for readers to submit feedback or suggest corrections.

Comprehensive Corrections

Whether we are correcting a post, Image caption, headlines, graphics, video or other documents, we actively publish a correction note explaining the reason for the change. Our goal is to ensure that our audience is always aware of when and why a modification was made to our original reporting.

Clarifications and Updates

In cases where our journalism is factually accurate but the language used could be clearer or more detailed, we will rewrite the necessary sections and add a clarification to the post.

A clarification is also used to note the following:

  • Missing Perspectives: If we initially failed to seek a comment or response that has since been added to the story.
  • New Reporting: If subsequent reporting has shifted our understanding or account of an event.
  • Contextual Accuracy: If the original wording led to a potential misunderstanding, even if the underlying facts were correct.

Editor’s Notes

A correction that affects the entire substance of an article, or raise a significant integrity of a story may require an Editor’s note. This note is followed by a transparent explanation of what is an issue in question. To maintain our high standards of accountability, a senior editor approves the addition of an editor’s note to any story.

Other Corrections Policies

When any error is identified by a reader or reported to the comments section, our community managing team may indicate within the comments that the issue has been addressed and corrected. This ensures a transparent, real-time dialogue with our audience and confirms that their feedback is valued and acted upon.

Social Media Corrections and Retractions

When erroneous information is published on our social media platforms, we are committed to correcting it directly on that same platform.

  • Platform Corrections: Wherever possible, we will edit the post to reflect the accurate information and include a note about the correction.
  • Retractions: If a platform does not allow for edits (such as certain post types or time-limited windows), or if the original post is too misleading to remain, we will retract the incorrect information by deleting the post and publishing a new, corrected version.
  • Transparency: When a retraction occurs, we will issue a follow-up post explaining the error to ensure our social media followers are correctly informed.

We do not attribute blame to individual reporters or editors.

Reporting inaccuracies

If you find that a post we have published is inaccurate or misleading, please contact our editorial team to “Suggest a Correction.” You may email us at info@newshours18.com.

Take-down Requests

As per our editorial policy, we do not entertain to take down any posts requests. If the subject claims that the story was inaccurate, we are prepared to investigate and, if necessary, publish a correction.

In situations where fairness demands a follow-up or update to our previous coverage, we will consider whether further editorial action is followed, but not to remove the article as through it had never been published.

When we publish publicly available personal data, we only review takedown requests if the person involved is under threat of physical harm of the existence of such material.
